I’m pretty sure most of you played / heard about Street Fighter. My first Street Fighter game was Street Fighter 2 for the Sega Genesis. It was a good game, always able to bring attention and crowd in, well, like most fighting games do, even though I suck at it. Of course being like everyone else, I’ve always want to use and master the famous characters, Ryu and Ken.
Perhaps it was the 16-bit sound or I had hearing problems, I didn’t hear Ryu and Ken said Hadouken and Shoryuken whenever they launch those attacks. Instead, I heard something like this :

A bit similar to this, but I heard it as ABOUGIT for Hadouken, and OOYUGIT for Shoryuken. In fact, I wasn’t the only one, almost everyone I know said that. Of course, years later I found out the actually pronunciation, heh. Okay, let’s not talk how I heard Tatsumaki Senpuukyaku sounded like.
How did it sounded for you guys when you first hear it on a 16 bit gaming device / arcade ?
Thanks Silencers for the image !

Lol! That was how I interpreted it as well. Ah, the good old days. ooyouken!
ahhh,the good old days
where cyber cafe is a boring place, and illegal arcade station is everywhere…20cent a token
@ lhw: Lol yeah. Going to school and confidently saying its ABOUGIT, only to learn years later that it was Hadouken haha.
@ faz : lol, no illegal arcade station around my place during my old days.
I remember Tatsumaki Senpuukyaku sounding like, ECHECHET BUCHET. Cos the audio quality of old arcade machines are crappy so you don’t really hear what’s what.
The only thing I remember hearing from old SF arcades are Yoga Fire, Yoga Flame and Tiger Knee.
LOL, exactly ! That’s why I prefer not to talk about it, haha.
